Fire Insurance, or Eternal Security ?
1 John 5:10-13 (KJV)
He that believeth on the Son of God hath
the witness in himself:
he that believeth not God hath made him
a liar;
because he believeth not the record that
God gave of his Son.
{11} And this is the record, that God hath
given to us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son.
{12} He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of
God hath not life.
{13} These things have I written unto
you that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal
life,
and that ye may believe on the name of
the Son of God.

Dear Br. Bob,
I need some clarification on the below
pasted paragraph written by you.
" 5) Remember always that if you have
believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, you now have eternal life, and that
no one can take it away from you....
eternal life means, "life that goes
on forever". It is not temporary or "on and off"...it is permanent and
eternal. If you sin, you do not lose your eternal life... you just lose
your friendship with God, until you repent and confess and turn away from
the sin, and He forgives you. Then you are once again restored to friendship
or fellowship with Him."
Does it mean If I believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, & I sin until my death, I get eternal life?
is it so easy?
From S.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear S.
When a person truly is saved, he receives
Christ, He also receives the Holy Spirit to dwell in his life.
John 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture
hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of
living water.
{39} (But this spake he of the Spirit,
which they that believe on him should
receive).
John 14:15-17 (KJV)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
{16} And I will pray the Father, and he
shall give you another Comforter,
that he may abide with you for ever;
{17} Even the Spirit of truth; whom the
world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth
him:
but ye know him; for he dwelleth with
you, and shall be in you.
The presence of the Holy Spirit in your
life brings a "peace which passes all understanding", and gives you a feeling
of joy and oneness with God which you don't want to lose.
Phil 4:6-7 (KJV)
Be careful (full of cares) for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God.
{7} And the peace of God, which passeth
all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.
Note that His Name is the "HOLY" Spirit
which means that it is His nature to be holy and to do what pleases God
as a principle of living.
1 Pet 1:15-16 (KJV)
But as he which hath called you is holy,
so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
{16} Because it is written, Be ye holy;
for I am holy.
1 Cor 6:19-20 (KJV)
What? know ye not that your body
is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your
own?
{20} For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body, and
in your spirit, which are God's.
So this means that if you sin once you
have the Holy Spirit living in your heart, you will experience such
a deep conviction of wrong doing and guilt that you will not be able to
stand it, and you will not be able to wait until you can confess this sin,
repent and turn away from it, and once again experience the peace of God
which passes all understanding.
1 John 1:4-10 (KJV)
And these things write we unto you, that
your joy may be full.
{5} This then is the message which we
have heard of him, and declare unto you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness
at all.
{6} If we say that we have fellowship
with him,
and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not
the truth:
{7} But if we walk in the light, as he
is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son
cleanseth us from all sin.
{8} If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is
not in us.
{9} If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
{10} If we say that we have not sinned,
we make him a liar, and his word is not
in us.
Col 3:15-16 (KJV)
And let the peace of God rule in your
hearts,
to the which also ye are called in one
body; and be ye thankful.
{16} Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord.
If by some extraordinary foolish decision
you do not repent right away, God will dog your steps and make you miserable
until you do repent. And if you should continue to sin and refuse to repent,
your life will be just miserable and you will go on and on living a substandard
experience in which God will be your enemy, and your heart gets harder
and harder and you will be just miserable.
Isa 63:10 (KJV)
But they rebelled, and vexed his
holy Spirit:
therefore he was turned to be their enemy,
and he fought against them.
Lev 26:14-21 (KJV)
But if ye will not hearken unto me, and
will not do all these commandments;
{15} And if ye shall despise my statutes,
or if your soul abhor my judgments,
so that ye will not do all my commandments,
but that ye break my covenant:
{16} I also will do this unto you;
I will even appoint over you terror, consumption,
and the burning ague,
that shall consume the eyes, and cause
sorrow of heart:
and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for
your enemies shall eat it.
{21} And I will set my face against you,
and ye shall be slain before your enemies:
they that hate you shall reign over you;
and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
{18} And if ye will not yet for all this
hearken unto me,
then I will punish you seven times more
for your sins.
{19} And I will break the pride of your
power;
and I will make your heaven as iron, and
your earth as brass:
{20} And your strength shall be spent
in vain:
for your land shall not yield her increase,
neither shall the trees of the land yield
their fruits.
{21} And if ye walk contrary unto me,
and will not hearken unto me;
I will bring seven times more plagues
upon you according to your sins.
If you should die in this condition, you
will stand before Jesus and have to explain why you sinned so bitterly
and continuously and I don't know what will happen to you.
Rom 14:10b-12 (KJV)
... for we shall all stand before
the judgment seat of Christ.
{11} For it is written, As I live, saith
the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to
God.
{12} So then every one of us shall give
account of himself to God.
Perhaps in this state you will be thrown
into "outer darkness", which may be a different place from hell altogether,
I don't know, but I know I don't want to be in that position and neither
do you.
Mat 25:29-30 (KJV)
For unto every one that hath shall be
given, and he shall have abundance:
but from him that hath not shall be taken
away even that which he hath.
{30} And cast ye the unprofitable servant
into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of
teeth.
Mat 22:12-14 (KJV)
And he saith unto him,
Friend, how camest thou in hither not
having a wedding garment?
And he was speechless.
{13} Then said the king to the servants,
Bind him hand and foot, and take him away,
and cast him into outer darkness;
there shall be weeping and gnashing of
teeth.
{14} For many are called, but few are
chosen.
If for some reason, you think that you
will "get saved" just to escape hell, but want to keep on sinning, remember
that God reads all the thoughts and intents of your heart, and I don't
believe you will be saved in the first place if that is your intent.
Heb 4:12-13 (KJV)
For the word of God is quick, and
powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder
of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart.
{13} Neither is there any creature that
is not manifest in his sight:
but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of him with whom we have
to do.
Job 34:21-22 (KJV)
For his eyes are upon the ways of
man,
and he seeth all his goings.
{22} There is no darkness, nor shadow
of death,
where the workers of iniquity may hide
themselves.
We tend to get the "desire of our hearts",
and if your desire is to sin, then you must be prepared to get "the wages
of sin" which is death.
1 Chr 28:9 (KJV)
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou
the God of thy father,
and serve him with a perfect heart and
with a willing mind:
for the LORD searcheth all hearts,
and understandeth all the imaginations
of the thoughts:
if thou seek him, he will be found of
thee;
but if thou forsake him, he will cast
thee off for ever.
Psa 145:19-21 (KJV)
He will fulfil the desire of them that
fear him:
he also will hear their cry, and will
save them.
{20} The LORD preserveth all them that
love him:
but all the wicked will he destroy.
{21} My mouth shall speak the praise
of the LORD:
and let all flesh bless his holy name
for ever and ever.
I hope this explains the situation. If
you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
